First Station—Jesus is Condemned to Death

Meditate on the place and time of our Lord being presented to Pilate in disarray and displeasure. Imagine Pilate's sense of hate from the crowd that surrounded and hemmed him in. Imagine the love in the heart of God for His children, who were about to put Him to death. To undergo the agony and anguish of the Cross and all that led up to it, reflect on the heart of the Divine in man. In his meanness and smallness, he did not recognize the heart of his God in himself. That is why you child, must always open your heart in faith and love, that the abundance of God's love may reign in your heart and His mercy and love for all may be poured out in abundance on all around you—through your openness of heart.

Those around Jesus on that day had their hearts hardened in hate. In joyless union with their God, they came to realize the hatred within themselves. They knew the hate poured out on this man, this God of theirs in disguise, would never release the love needed to save them in His love. They knew, child, the hatred would betray them in the end, as hatred always does. But evilness depends on the desire of the heart of man to do evil and set aside the good. To do evil, one must desire in his heart to do so. To do the good that is in man to do, one must open himself to God, and his liberties of life's goodness in Him, His love.

Do not despair that man can no longer do good in the sight of His God to the extent that goodness will reign. Be rather amazed at the power and love of a God who denounces an evil age, and pours out upon it salvation and love from His Heart. He, child, chose this route, this plan, this salvation of love. As He stood before Pilate, joy poured out from Him to His Father for allowing Him to redeem mankind this way. The love He had for those around Him, would not be understood by men without faith—an evil age. Do not, child, look now to the joy and peace in His heart. Look now to the agony of the walk placed before Him. Look now to the hatred poured out on your God, your Beloved. Look now to the incensed nature of His human heart, His despair in knowing the truth that redemption required His life—painful, agonizing hatred and death lay before Him. He did not despair for love of God. His despair lay in the human heart of God now pierced with the hatred and sin of all mankind. His despair came in knowing His death lay before Him. His agonizing, traumatic death walk now laid ahead. He could abandon this way and redeem mankind not in love, but in kind, as they had paid to Him.

He, child, chose in his Divine love and in His human heart, to be love for all, to abandon hate for all time and for the sake of love. He would give His life, His human life, for love of His beloved, for the life of the world, for the redemption of the little ones in faith and in not.

Blessed be God, my child, for in knowing all, He knew how His human heart would suffer in kind. He knew His human heart would be abandoned and destroyed in the spirit of hate and sin that delivered Him over to the evil‑doing that awaited Him. He devised a way so perfect as to appease the Father, and take sin upon Himself in death for all.

He knew child, even your sins. He took upon Himself the evil to come in your heart. But you know child, the graces He affords you were given that very day, in love. He gives and metes out from the power of His destruction and resurrection, the graces for all mankind to come to Him. He has overcome sin and death. He has given life through His death, and in His death, new life!

I love you child and wish you to know the treasure of the Cross—the love of which is the essence of your life now. You will embrace the Cross in new ways with the graces earned that day on Calvary. From heaven above comes your salvation. From a God of love, you are redeemed. You will know deeply the power of the Cross and the Resurrection. You will know life. Do not despise the Cross. Do not give back the crosses given you—for each cross is a gift—whether from good or evil—for all crosses work together as love.
